Sourav Ganguly re-elected CAB President Unopposed
Sourav Ganguly was re-elected as the President of Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) on Friday. Ganguly was elected unopposed two days before CAB’s 85th annual general meeting in Kolkata. This will be Ganguly’s second term as President in CAB after his first coming when he took over the position after Jagmohan Dalmiya’s death in 2015. Avishek Dalmiya(son of Jagmohan Dalmiya) was elected as secretary. Keeping in line with a three-year cooling-off period after six successive years in office, Ganguly can be the CAB President only until July 2020.
Former skipper Azharuddin elected as HCA President
On the other side, Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin was elected as the President of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on Friday. The Former Skipper took a strong lead in the counting of votes, he secured 173 votes and his rival Prakash Chand Jain secured just 73 votes.
Azharuddin Appeared in 99 tests and 334 ODI’s representing India, being one of the best captains for India, despite his allegations on match-fixing ruined his career. He joined in Congress in 2009 and elected as a Member of Parliament.
